Zelenskyy said Ukrainian diplomats had held discussions to prepare for the US envoys’ Kyiv visit. As part of the arrangements, Kyiv decided to keep Russian airspace operating normally to facilitate the safe arrival of Kushner and Witkoff.

‘We Need To Look For Real Options’

The Ukrainian President said Kyiv’s priority was the safety of the US representatives and “not Russia". He added that Ukraine was seeking “real options" to end the war, which has now continued for four-and-a-half years.

Confirming the planned diplomatic visits, Zelenskyy tweeted, “Today, it has been clearly established that U.S. envoys will be in Ukraine and Russia in the coming days. We have the details from the U.S. President’s team. We discussed today that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will visit Moscow and then Kyiv on Sunday. We are preparing for the visit."

“Our goal is to make the visit and the talks with the U.S. side as constructive and substantive as possible. We need to look for real options for how to move this war toward an end. We will see what proposals Steve and Jared bring and what they are told in Moscow in response," Zelensky further wrote.

Zelenskyy’s proposal came shortly after Russia carried out a daytime airstrike on the headquarters of Ukraine’s intelligence service. The Ukrainian leader said the attack was aimed at the office of the country’s intelligence chief.
