A new report from Deadline confirmed that Matt Reeves' The Batman - Part II's release date has been delayed from Oct. 1, 2027.
This comes after Warner Bros. failed to mention the specific release date for The Batman - Part II in its CinemaCon presentation, which raised concerns about a potential delay.
The hope moving forward is that no further issues will come up, as viewers wait to find out what is in store for Reeves' Batman universe.
Once again, The Batman - Part II will now be released in theaters on Feb. 18, 2028.
As DC Studios pushes forward with new additions to its Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters slate, its Elseworlds lineup is also moving ahead with new entries like The Batman - Part II. Directed by Matt Reeves and written by Reeves and Matt Tomlin, this movie will follow up Warner Bros. Pictures' first effort with Robert Pattinson's take on the Caped Crusader in The Batman, which became a massive hit upon its 2022 debut. This time, Pattinson will have a massive cast of new supporting stars, including MCU veterans like Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson. But, sadly, we'll be waiting a little longer to see them join the world of DC as the sequel has just been delayed.

Filming for The Batman - Part II kicked off filming in Jun. 2026, and Reeves celebrated the occasion by sharing short bits of footage with the film's main cast members. While story details remain largely under wraps, Pattinson's Dark Knight will be in for an even more intense story this time around, considering the horde of antagonists who are set to return from the original 2022 movie. Unfortunately, while no reports from filming have indicated any trouble, an official report indicated that fans will have to wait even longer than expected for the sequel's release.
A new report from Deadline confirmed that Matt Reeves' The Batman - Part II's release date has been delayed from Oct. 1, 2027. The anticipated Elseworlds sequel is now set to be released about three months later on Feb. 18, 2028, while J.J Abrams' The Great Beyond takes over its original release date. To make up for this crushing disappointment, Reeves posted a short clip of camera test footage from the new movie on Vimeo, centered on Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne. Just over 30 seconds long, the footage shows the Caped Crusader in full costume standing in the rain, before turning to his right and delivering a menacing stare into the camera.
This is far from the first time The Batman - Part II has faced release date changes, as it was originally meant to be released in Oct. 2025 after it was first confirmed for development. Due to the 2023 writers' and actors' strikes, the script not being completed previously, and other issues, filming for the sequel did not start until mid-2026. Now, it appears that Reeves and his team will need even more time to add the next chapter to this story, meaning the gap between the two movies' releases will be nearly six full years.
