The company is expected to launch Sierra EV on June 30th, which will mark a big milestone for the brand in its EV journey. Ahead of the launch, Sierra EV has been teased for the very first time. It will come with a few EV-specific design elements while staying true to Sierra’s overall appeal.
Tata Sierra EV Teased
In the TVC of Sierra ICE, Tata Motors sneaked in a couple of shots of Sierra EV. These snippets showed a distinct identity for Sierra EV with a closed-off grille. Now, the first official teaser ahead of launch, shows a Sierra EV’s front fascia. However, the image is of a dark scene, making it difficult to draw design references over Sierra ICE.
Sierra EV gets more body coloured elements in the fascia, lending it a cleaner look when compared to the large Black applique seen on Sierra ICE. The clamshell bonnet, connected LED DRLs, sleekest LED headlights in the segment, vertically arranged LED fog lights with cornering lamps are similar to Sierra ICE.
Even the bull-bar-like silver elements in the front bumper looks like it is shared with ICE version too. Unique to Sierra EV could be white surrounds around Tata logo in the front, blue highlights around Tata.ev badges. There is a good probability that Sierra EV might come with Grey plastics like Punch EV and Tiago EV, even though we hope it doesn’t.
Interiors & Powertrains
If we take a look at Tata Motors’ EV and ICE counterparts, most of their interior elements will be shared with each other. Few exceptions are Nexon EV that get a 12.3-inch cluster, while Nexon ICE tops out at 10.25-inch. With Sierra EV, Tata Motors is likely to offer an identical interior as Sierra ICE.
This means a triple screen layout on dashboard along with a soundbar, premium JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos, extensive soft touch elements, spacious cabin, extensive features like dual-zone climate control, electric parking brake, powered tailgate, segment’s largest panoramic sunroof, auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers, advanced ADAS, option for an AR-enabled HUD, large boot and more.
Where powertrains are concerned, Tata Sierra EV is expected to borrow powertrains from Harrier EV, rather than Curvv EV. So, battery size could go up to 75 kWh, while the dual-motor QWD setup may make its way to Sierra EV as well, with up to 500 Nm of torque.
