Tata Sierra EV QWD Dual Motor Confirmed In New Teaser

Tata Motors has released another teaser of the upcoming Sierra EV ahead of its launch on June 30, 2026. The teaser shows Sierra EV charging through desert sand, kicking up large plumes of dust and tackling dunes with ease. This makes Sierra EV the second Tata EV after Harrier EV to feature the company’s QWD technology. Tata Motors has released another teaser of the upcoming Sierra EV ahead of its launch on June 30, 2026. The latest video not only hints at the SUV’s capabilities in challenging terrain, but also confirms that Sierra EV will be offered with Tata’s QWD (Quad Wheel Drive) setup.

The teaser shows Sierra EV charging through desert sand, kicking up large plumes of dust and tackling dunes with ease. One of the frames also reveals a prominent “QWD Dual Motor” badge on the tailgate, confirming the presence of an all-wheel-drive dual-motor powertrain. This makes Sierra EV the second Tata EV after Harrier EV to feature the company’s QWD technology.

Desert Run Hints At Off-Road Potential

Unlike the earlier teaser that focused primarily on design, the latest video puts the spotlight on performance. Sierra EV is seen driving across loose desert sand, with some sequences suggesting the SUV is preparing for a steep dune climb.

The teaser appears to have been designed specifically to highlight the advantages of the dual-motor QWD system. In loose surfaces such as sand, distributing power to all four wheels can significantly improve traction and stability when compared to conventional front-wheel-drive setups. Several shots also provide a better look at the SUV’s rear profile, connected LED tail lamps and aerodynamic alloy wheel design.

Expected To Share Harrier EV Powertrains

While Tata Motors is yet to reveal technical specifications, Sierra EV is expected to borrow much of its electric powertrain technology from Harrier EV. This could include battery packs up to 75 kWh along with single-motor and dual-motor configurations.

The QWD version is likely to be positioned as the flagship variant, offering enhanced performance and traction. If it mirrors Harrier EV’s setup, power output could be significantly higher than Tata’s current electric SUV range, with torque figures expected to approach the 500 Nm mark.

Design And Features

Sierra EV will carry several EV-specific design elements, including a cleaner front fascia with more body-coloured surfaces and a closed-off grille treatment. However, most of the core styling cues will remain shared with the recently unveiled Sierra ICE.

Inside, Sierra EV is expected to feature the same triple-screen dashboard layout as Sierra ICE, along with a soundbar-style audio setup, premium JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, powered tailgate, advanced ADAS suite and an augmented reality head-up display.

With less than two weeks remaining for launch, Tata Motors is gradually revealing key details of Sierra EV. The confirmation of a dual-motor QWD variant indicates that the company intends to position Sierra EV not only as a lifestyle electric SUV, but also as one with genuine all-terrain capability.
