India fielding coach T Dilip is set to depart from his role after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided not to renew his contract.
Subhadeep Ghosh from the Centre of Excellence (CoE), who travelled with the Indian team to Zimbabwe as the fielding coach, is the front-runner to replace Dilip.
He joined Gambhir’s support staff in 2024, with his contract initially running until May 2025.
However, last year, he was handed a temporary extension and subsequently accompanied the Indian team on their tour of England.
Dilip’s role as fielding coach came under close scrutiny as the Indian team continued to spill regulation catches during India's recent tours to Ireland and England.

“Yes. His (Dilip’s) one-year extension has ended,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told Cricbuzz, confirming the development. The recent series in England was his final assignment with the Indian team. Dilip could not be immediately contacted for his comments.
Dilip becomes the second member of the Indian team support staff to exit after Ryan ten Doeschate, who stepped down from his role as India's Assistant Coach as reported by Cricbuzz on July 14.
Dilip took over from R Sridhar as India's fielding coach in 2021, and was added to India's support staff alongside Paras Mhambrey and Vikram Rathour to work under head coach Rahul Dravid. He was the only holdover from Rahul Dravid’s support staff in current head coach Gautam Gambhir’s backroom team, having been retained on the recommendation of Rohit Sharma.
