Panchayat's Ashok Pathak Recalls PM Narendra Modi's First Words During Their Meeting

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delighted Panchayat fans with a special Instagram reel featuring actors Durgesh Kumar and Ashok Pathak, who played Bhushan and Binod’s roles, respectively. The clip quickly grabbed attention across social media, but it wasn’t just the meeting that got people talking. What truly excited fans was PM Modi’s use of the beloved Panchayat theme music in the background, adding a memorable touch to the viral video. Now, Ashok Pathak, aka Binod, has opened up about his meeting with PM Modi and shared details of their conversation.

While speaking to India Today, Ashok Pathak revealed that he has been flooded with congratulatory messages since meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Calling the experience a milestone in his life, the actor said both the interaction and the overwhelming response that followed have been truly special. Pathak, who won hearts with his portrayal of Binod in Panchayat, admitted that he is still coming to terms with the attention generated by a social media post shared by the Prime Minister. The caption of the video that PM Modi shared on Instagram read, “A few moments with Binod."

Reacting to the same, the actor said, “For any Indian, it is a huge honour when the Prime Minister wants to meet you and appreciates your work. The fact that he met us so warmly, and later shared the video himself, felt very special. As an actor, it is gratifying to know that your work has reached people and touched their hearts. Audiences have showered Panchayat with so much love, and to see that reflected at this level was truly overwhelming."

Reflecting on the encounter, Ashok revealed that his interaction with the Prime Minister was short, owing to PM Modi’s busy schedule and multiple engagements. He added that everyone was left in splits the moment PM Modi met them and said, “Sun raha hai na Binod?" He further stated, “I come from a small village, and when my father heard that I had been invited to meet the Prime Minister, he was on cloud nine. For my family, it was an incredibly proud moment. They never imagined something like this would happen."

He also spoke about meeting Ram Charan and his wife Upasana Konidela. He shared, “I also met Ram Charan and Upasana ji, and both of them told me how much they loved Panchayat. That made the experience even more memorable. It felt like the appreciation for the show was coming from all directions. Interestingly, not many would know that I have actually dubbed the Hindi dialogues for a character named Kurmaiya in his film Peddi."

Meanwhile, Ashok and Durgesh are all set to be seen in Panchayat’s Season 5 with Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik and Jeetendra Kumar.
