A shocking incident in Coimbatore has gone viral after CCTV footage showed two stray dogs intervening when a 17-year-old boy allegedly attempted to sexually assault a mentally ill woman. The incident took place early Thursday near Thudiyalur, along the service road of a railway overbridge. The boy was later identified and arrested by police the same day, as per reports.

According to police, the woman was sitting by the roadside near two stray dogs when the boy, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, approached her. CCTV footage reportedly showed him speaking to the woman before picking up a stone and attempting to drive the dogs away. The dogs moved away but continued barking at him.

The boy then allegedly attempted to sexually assault the woman. She screamed for help, following which the two dogs reportedly pounced on him, biting his legs and pulling him away from the woman.

The teenager then fled the scene, with one of the dogs reportedly chasing him. Police subsequently identified the boy with the help of the CCTV footage and arrested him. Further investigation is underway.
