NSE Holidays, Stock Market Holiday: India's leading stock exchanges, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), will remain closed for trading on Thursday, May 28, 2026, on account of Bakri Eid, also known as Eid al-Adha or Id-Uz-Zuha.

According to the notification, trading in equities, equity derivatives and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) will be suspended on designated holidays. Bakri Eid is one of the major festivals celebrated across India and several other countries. The festival commemorates the spirit of sacrifice and is observed with prayers, charity and community gatherings. Since it is a gazetted public holiday in many parts of the country, financial markets and several institutions remain shut for the day.

In 2026, the stock market will remain closed on a total of 16 occasions, with seven holidays already observed.

After the Maharashtra Day closure, the next market holiday in May is falling on May 28 on account of Bakri Id. In the latter half of the year, trading will be suspended on several occasions, including Muharram on June 26, Ganesh Chaturthi on September 14, and Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.

Dussehra will be observed on October 20, followed by Diwali Balipratipada on November 10 and Guru Nanak Jayanti on November 24. The final market holiday of the year will be on December 25 for Christmas.
