Stock Market Close: Sensex sheds 71 pts; Nifty settles at 24,366; Consumer Durables shares shine

Stock Market Highlights on Friday, Aug 14, 2026: The benchmark Nifty50 and the Sensex declined as oil prices rose after the US threatened to continue the naval blockade at the Strait of Hormuz for indefinite time. The Sensex settled 71 points or 0.09 per cent down at 78,009.25 and the Nifty50 fell 29.85 points or 0.12 per cent to 24,366.00. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, Jio Financial Services, and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation were the top losers in the Nifty50 index. In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap and the Nifty SmallCap ended 0.53 per cent and 0.69 per cent down, respectively Sector-wise, the Nifty Consumer Durables rose nearly 1 per cent and outshone peers. Meanwhile, the Nifty Pharma and the Nifty Realty underperformed.
