Stock Market Highlights on Wednesday, Aug 12, 2026: The benchmark indices, the Nifty50 and the Sensex, fell for the second day in a row due to firm oil prices as uncertainty about a deal to open the Strait of Hormuz prevailed.
The Sensex fell 187.90 points 0.24 per cent to 77,966.35 and the Nifty50 settled 35.75 points or 0.15 per cent down at 24,435.95.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Max Healthcare Institute, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise were the top losers in the Nifty50 index.
In the broader markets, the Nifty MidCap was up 0.28 per cent and the Nifty SmallCap was down 0.18 per cent.
Sector-wise, the Nifty IT fell 1.54 per cent to emerge as the worst performer.
