Wangchuk revisited the viral exchange while appearing on YouTuber Prakhar Gupta’s podcast. When Gupta offered him a T-shirt featuring Salman’s now-famous line, “Sonam, it’s done bro”, Wangchuk said he would keep it as a “healthy sentiment”.
Asked about Salman’s appeal to him during his hunger strike, Wangchuk said, “Majbooriyan hoti hongi sabki. Aage peeche, daayen baayen dekhna padta hai. Lekin unhone kuch kaha uski main izzat karta hoon (Everyone must have their own compulsions. You have to consider all sides and look at the situation from every angle. But I respect whatever he has said).”
What Salman Khan told Sonam Wangchuk
The exchange dates back to July, when Salman spoke out in support of students protesting over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak. He said he was glad to see students across the country coming together to demand a better education system.
A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the students’ concerns and assured them that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the alleged paper leak, Salman, in a social media post, urged the protesting students to return home. He also asked Wangchuk to end his hunger strike. He also offered to send him food from home.
“The students are at top priority, educationally and security-wise, so they need not worry and have their parents worried for them. The Honourable Prime Minister has tweeted, and I am sure that he will take strict action against all those people who are responsible for this leak. So students, plz go back to your parents n homes. Sonam, it’s done, bro. Don’t extend this. Keep the spirit for another day if there be a need, which I doubt, n eat something. If u want, will send u food from home (sic)," Salman wrote in a now-viral post.
The line quickly took on a life of its own on social media and became a popular meme.

Sonam Wangchuk's hunger strike
Wangchuk began an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar on June 28 in solidarity with students protesting the NEET paper leak. The demonstration was led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which was also demanding the resignation of then Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The protest received support from several Bollywood personalities, including Sonakshi Sinha, Shabana Azmi and Prakash Raj.
On July 18, Delhi Police shifted Wangchuk to Safdarjung Hospital and later to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram following an order from the Delhi High Court. He continued his hunger strike during the period.
The protest eventually ended after Dharmendra Pradhan resigned as Union Education Minister and the government accepted the CJP’s other demands, including an assurance that the protesters would not face legal or police action.
Salman Khan's upcoming films
On the work front, Salman will next be seen in Apoorva Lakhia’s Maatrubhumi, which also stars Chitrangada Singh. The film was initially scheduled for an April release but was postponed, with a new release date yet to be announced.
Salman also has a film with Nayanthara in the pipeline. Tentatively titled SVC63, the project is backed by Dil Raju and is expected to release next year.
