Shahid Kapoor’s Deva co-star Rohullah Mehdi reportedly arrested in connection with an alleged Mumbai drug case.

Actor and model Rohullah Mehdi, who appeared in Shahid Kapoor-starrer Deva, has landed in legal trouble after being arrested in Mumbai in an alleged narcotics case. Mehdi was reportedly picked up by the Kashimira Police Crime Branch from outside a studio in Malad, where he was shooting.

The arrest followed an operation in which the police allegedly recovered 28 grams of MD drugs worth approximately Rs 5.60 lakh. Mehdi has reportedly been named as the main accused in the case and has been remanded to five days of police custody.

Decoy Customer Led Police To Alleged Drug Deal

According to an NDTV report, the case began after the police received information about a suspected drug network allegedly using social media to operate in Mumbai.

Investigators reportedly found that platforms including Snapchat and WhatsApp were being used as channels of communication. Following the tip-off, the police decided to set up a trap rather than immediately moving in on the suspects.

A decoy customer was reportedly used as part of the operation. A man identified as Kasif was then allegedly asked to arrive near Thakur Mall in the Dahisar Check Naka area with 28 grams of MD.

Police reportedly caught Kasif during the alleged transaction and recovered the contraband. The seized drugs have been valued at around Rs 5.60 lakh.

It was his subsequent questioning that reportedly brought Mehdi’s name into the investigation.

Rohullah Mehdi Arrested Outside Malad Studio

According to the report, Kasif allegedly identified Rohullah Mehdi during questioning, prompting the Crime Branch to pursue the actor and model.

Mehdi was eventually traced to Malad. He was reportedly working at a studio when police arrived and arrested him outside the premises.

The authorities have identified Mehdi as a native of Budgam district in Jammu and Kashmir. He had reportedly been residing in Goregaon while pursuing his career in Mumbai’s entertainment industry.

Following his arrest, Mehdi was presented before a court. He was subsequently sent to police custody for five days as investigators continued questioning him about the alleged operation.

Rohullah Mehdi Appeared In Shahid Kapoor’s Deva

Mehdi has worked as an actor and model and has appeared in films as well as web projects.

He was also part of Deva, headlined by Shahid Kapoor. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews, the action thriller featured Shahid as a police officer and also starred Pooja Hegde and Pavail Gulati in prominent roles.

Mehdi’s association with the film has attracted wider attention following news of his arrest. However, there is nothing in the reported investigation suggesting any connection between the film or its other cast members and the allegations against him.

Police Investigating Wider Alleged Drug Network

The investigation hasn’t ended with the two arrests. Police are reportedly trying to establish the extent of the alleged supply network and identify other people who may have been involved.

Investigators are also looking into whether Mehdi allegedly supplied narcotics to additional customers. Reports suggest that the authorities are examining possible links to people from different circles, including the entertainment industry.

However, no additional individuals from the film industry have been publicly identified as accused in the information available so far.

The operation was reportedly carried out by the Kashimira Police team under the supervision of DCP Zone-1 Rahul Chavan.
