Left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is leading the Pakistan men’s cricket team in the ongoing three-match ODI series against Australia. He entered the history books on Tuesday (June 2) by becoming the third Pakistani cricketer to take a wicket on the first ball of an ODI match.

Shaheen opened the bowling for Pakistan in the second ODI against Australia at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and dismissed Alex Carey with the very first ball of the match. The left-handed Australian batter was bowled by Shaheen, who was appointed Pakistan’s full-time ODI captain last year.

Waqar Younis joined him in the elite list on June 17, 2001, when he dismissed England batter Marcus Trescothick with the first ball of the ODI at Headingley in Leeds.
