Dzire recorded 66,025 units in Q2 2026, up 30.58% from 50,564 units in Q2 2025.
Honda Amaze was third at 8,453 units and posted an impressive 34.37% increase over the 6,291 units recorded during Q2 2025.
Sedans have posted positive year-on-year growth in June 2026, although volumes declined significantly when compared to May. The nine sedans covered here recorded combined sales of 31,183 units, up 10.05% YoY from 28,335 units sold in June 2025. However, compared to 37,055 units in May 2026, sales declined 15.85% MoM.
The broader Q2 2026 picture was stronger. Combined sedan sales during April-June stood at 1,03,456 units, compared to 87,868 units during Q2 2025. This represents YoY growth of 17.74%, with an additional 15,588 units sold. In comparison, SUV sales for the same period have been lot higher.
Sedan Sales June 2026 – Maruti Dzire Leads By A Huge Margin
Maruti Dzire continued to dominate sedan sales with 17,899 units sold in June 2026. Sales increased 15.60% YoY from 15,484 units, adding 2,415 units. Dzire alone commanded an impressive 57.40% share among the sedans on this list. However, Dzire witnessed a sharp sequential decline. Compared to 24,546 units in May, June sales dropped by 6,647 units or 27.08%. Despite this decline, Dzire sold almost three times as many units as its nearest rival.
Hyundai Aura secured second place with 5,977 units, registering 10.42% YoY and 17.73% MoM growth. Aura accounted for 19.17% of June sales. Honda Amaze followed with 2,937 units, improving 29.16% YoY and 10.41% MoM. Together, Dzire, Aura and Amaze accounted for nearly 86% of sales among the sedans listed here, highlighting how strongly the sub-4-metre models dominate India’s sedan market.
Virtus Leads Mid-Size Sedans
Volkswagen Virtus was the best-selling mid-size sedan in June with 1,195 units, although sales fell 32.79% YoY from 1,778 units. MoM performance was relatively stable, declining 3.47%. Skoda Slavia was close behind with 1,083 units. Unlike Virtus, Slavia recorded strong growth in June, rising 20.87% YoY and 25.78% MoM. The difference between Virtus and Slavia was just 112 units.
Honda City recorded sales of 745 units, up 5.08% YoY but down 39.28% MoM. Tata Tigor and Tigor EV combined contributed 602 units, declining 23.60% YoY, while Hyundai Verna slipped to 554 units with a 31.86% YoY decline. Toyota Camry remained a niche offering with 191 units, although sales improved 6.11% YoY.

Maruti Dzire’s dominance becomes even more evident when looking at the entire second quarter. Dzire recorded 66,025 units in Q2 2026, up 30.58% from 50,564 units in Q2 2025. It alone accounted for 63.82% of the sedan volumes covered here.
Hyundai Aura maintained second position with 15,641 units, registering 5.24% YoY growth. Honda Amaze was third at 8,453 units and posted an impressive 34.37% increase over the 6,291 units recorded during Q2 2025. Volkswagen Virtus ranked fourth with 3,595 units, down 29.37% YoY. Skoda Slavia followed with 2,774 units, registering a relatively smaller decline of 3.71%.
City Grows, Verna And Tigor Decline
Honda City was among the notable gainers during Q2. Sales increased from 1,606 units to 2,149 units, representing growth of 33.81%. This was enough for City to marginally outsell Hyundai Verna during the quarter. Verna sales declined 22.05% to 2,142 units, compared to 2,748 units a year earlier. Tata Tigor and Tigor EV combined were at 2,095 units, down 33.70% YoY. Toyota Camry registered 582 units, a decline of 12.61%.
