Hyderabad: A security guard was allegedly arrested for molesting a Kerala-native software engineer near DLF in Gachibowli while waiting for her office cab.
Police arrested the accused, Raj Jha, a native of Jharkhand, who had moved to Hyderabad a couple of months ago and was working as a security guard at a nearby branch dhaba.
With Ganesh immersion processions underway, specialised forces such as the special operations team and the task force were deployed for security.
Traffic coming from the Shaikpet flyover towards Khajaguda may be diverted through Timberlake Colony Road before KIMS Hospital and connected to Nanakramguda Road.
The vehicle developed a mechanical problem near Kohir, following which the accused abandoned it near a dhaba and travelled towards Zaheerabad.

The victim was walking towards her cab pick-up point when her dupatta reportedly got caught in a roadside tree. As she tried to remove it, the accused helped free the dupatta. After she thanked him, he hugged her, kissed her and bit her, leaving bite marks. The techie immediately raised an alarm and called for help. Before people could gather at the spot, the accused fled. She approached Gachibowli police and lodged a complaint. Police formed teams and examined CCTV footage from the area and traced the suspect. A case was registered based on the woman's complaint and further investigation is underway.
Military Intelligence Steps In to Probe Bolaram Armoury Heist
Military Intelligence personnel led the investigation into the Bolaram arms theft case on Thursday, the second day of police custody of accused U. Mallesh, with the questioning focusing on whether he had any assistance while stealing 12 weapons and a couple of thousands rounds of ammunition. With Ganesh immersion processions underway, specialised forces such as the special operations team and the task force were deployed for security.
Investigators were examining Mallesh’s claim that he was working as a driver and was driving a cab on the night of the offence. He told police that he had taken two passengers to Achampet that night and used this to explain his movements, insisting that he could not have committed the theft, according to sources. Mallesh had his proof of payments made by the passengers, supporting his claim that he was operating a cab that night, sources said.
Police were examining whether anyone else was travelling in the vehicle apart from the two passengers, and whether they had assisted him in transporting or concealing the stolen weapons.
Mallesh was arrested in connection with the theft of weapons and ammunition from the kote and magazine rooms of the 20 Battalion, Madras Regiment, at Bolaram on the intervening night of August 30 and 31. Bolaram police recovered the intact stolen weapons and ammunition. The custody period of Mallesh is now being used to identify accomplices while two suspects Vinod and Madhu were on the radar of the police.
60-Day Traffic Curbs at Khajaguda Junction from Sept 26 for Pipeline Works
Traffic restrictions will be imposed at Khajaguda Junction for 60 days from September 26 to facilitate the execution of water pipeline works, the Cyberabad traffic police said. The service road and free-left movement from KIMS Hospital towards Nanakramguda Road will be temporarily closed. The right-turn movement of vehicles coming from the Biodiversity Park side towards Nanakramguda Road will also be restricted.
Traffic coming from the Shaikpet flyover towards Khajaguda may be diverted through Timberlake Colony Road before KIMS Hospital and connected to Nanakramguda Road. Vehicles coming from under the Shaikpet flyover may use the High-Tension Road. Traffic from the Gachibowli/Biodiversity Level-1 flyover side may be diverted at Pakwan U-turn through Khajaguda Lake Road towards Khajaguda.
Police warned of congestion around the junction and advised regular commuters, including IT employees, to use alternate routes.
Three Arrested for Murdering Cab Driver, Stealing Vehicle on NH-65
Patancheru police arrested three persons in connection with the murder of cab driver Nellamarri Rajashekhar and the subsequent theft of his car on September 11. while two other accused remain absconding.
According to Serilingmpally DCP Ch. Srinivas, the accused Ghodake Rahul, Suraj ShashikanthTawade and Bamble Raju Ramachandra hired Rajashekhar’s cab near the swimming pool bus stop beside the task force office on SP Road, Secunderabad on the intervening night of September 10 and 11, telling him they wanted to travel towards Mumbai.
After reaching an isolated stretch near Rudraram, the accused reported got Rajashekhar to stop the car on NH-65 and fatally attacked him. They then allegedly dumped his body near the under-construction road overbridge and fled towards Mumbai in his car. The vehicle developed a mechanical problem near Kohir, following which the accused abandoned it near a dhaba and travelled towards Zaheerabad.
Based on a complaint by Rajashekhar’s family, the Begumpet police registered a missing person case and started investigations.
The accused were arrested after being traced through technical clues. The DCP said the five accused had planned the murder and theft of the cab to travel towards Mumbai and rob gold shops. They also allegedly planned to sell the stolen car.
Patancheru police subsequently altered the case sections to include dacoity, murder, criminal conspiracy and acts done in connection with common intention under the BNS. Police produced the accused before a court and were trying to trace the two other accused.
TG SAFE Issues Recall Alert for Batch of Paracet 500 Tablets
The TG SAFE has issued a drug recall alert for a batch of Paracet 500 tablets (Paracetamol IP 500 mg) and advised consumers not to use the medicine. The recalled batch bears Batch No. APRCT-2501 manufactured by Konis Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., Solan, Himachal Pradesh in May 2025, with an expiry date of April 2027. The TG SAFE directed the withdrawal of the batch from market circulation and advised consumers to check the batch number on their medicine packs. Those who have the recalled batch have been advised to consult a pharmacist or doctor for further guidance. The medicine is marketed by Apple Health Care, Nagole, it added.
Car hits three girls at DMRL crossroads
A 10‑year‑old Class VI student died and two others were critically injured after being hit by a car at DMRL crossroads in the early hours of Wednesday. The girls were crossing the road towards Santoshnagar when the car struck them. The driver fled, abandoning the vehicle, Santoshnagar police said.
The accident occurred at 1.30 am. The 10-yaer-old succumbed to injuries at 11.30 am while undergoing treatment at a hospital. Her neighbours, a nine-year old and 19-year-old G. Ramiya are receiving treatment at the same hospital, station house officer K. Satyanarayana said. Police seized the abandoned car and are examining CCTV footage to identify the accused.
Excise STF Arrests Three in Separate Raids, Seizes Drugs and Illicit Liquor Worth ₹8.9 Lakh
Excise task force teams on Wednesday arrested two persons identified as Danturi Vasudeva Varma and Chedipudi Kundan Reddy for the online supply of narcotics, and seized 60 grams of OG Kush and 14 bottles non-duty paid liquor worth `6.7 lakh. STF inspector Ramesh said they were arrested for smuggling the drugs and illegal liquor and selling them online.
Elsewhere,, the STF raided a house of Gaurav Kumar, a Bihar native, and seized 3.085 kg of ganja and 5.06 grams of brown sugar worth `2.2 lakh from his house in Malkajgiri on Wednesday. Ramesh who led the raid said the accused had been handed over to Malkajgiri excise station.
Sub-Inspector on Ganesh Bandobast Duty Killed in City Hit-and-Run
Kothagudem II Town sub-inspector D. Venkanna, stationed in the city for Ganesh immersion bandobast duty, died while undergoing treatment after an unidentified two-wheeler hit him in the Saifabad police limits. He was crossing the road when the unidentified two-wheeler struck him and drove. He suffered injuries to his right hand and right leg and was taken to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
After undergoing treatment and an X-ray, Venkanna took discharge from the hospital believing that he suffered only external injuries. He told that he intended to travel to Torrur, where his relatives lived, so they could take care of him while he recovered.
His condition subsequently deteriorated. It is suspected that he may have suffered internal bleeding that did not appear innitially. He went to a hospital in Torrur, where he died even before receiving treatment.
His family members were informed about the death. A postmortem examination is yet to be conducted.
Saifabad police had initially registered a case in connection with the road accident. Following Venkanna's death, police are to alter the case to one of causing death by negligence. Police are working to identify the two-wheeler and its rider and are examining available evidence to establish the circumstances surrounding the accident.
730 kg Adulterated Ginger-Garlic Paste Seized in Hayathnagar Raid
Malkajgiri police and the Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (M-FAST) seized around 730 kg of suspected adulterated ginger-garlic paste during a raid on a manufacturing unit, Sri Manikanta (SMK) Golden Food Products and Ginger-Garlic Manufacturing, at Shivashaktinagar in Hayathnagar.
Officials said the accused. Akula Shivaiah was engaged in manufacturing ginger-garlic paste in different pack sizes. Officials said the premises contained low-quality raw material, an unidentified solution and food colour, which were allegedly being used in the manufacturing process.
The seized paste included 13 drums containing 50 kilo each, totalling 650 kilo; 10 boxes containing five kilo each, totalling 50 kilo; and 150 boxes containing 200 grams each, totalling 30 kill. An unidentified solution in a 3.5 litre bottle and one box of unnamed food colour were also seized.
Officials said the paste was being prepared in unhygienic conditions without following required food safety and quality standards. The suspected adulterated materials and finished products were seized for further legal and regulatory action.
Cybercrooks Hack MLR Auto Email, Siphon Off ₹17.2 Lakh; Cops Freeze ₹7.3 Lakh
Cybercriminals hacked the official email account of Manoharabad-based MLR Auto Limited and defrauded the company of ₹17,20,745 by making it believe that its bank account details have been changed.
According to Medak police, after the company lodged a complaint, police examined the transactions and coordinated with the concerned banks. Their intervention helped freeze ₹7,33,278 of the transferred amount. The amount was subsequently returned to the company after completion of the legal process. A case has been registered at Manoharabad police station and investigation is underway.
Representatives of MLR Auto Limited met Medak district police officials on Wednesday and expressed gratitude after the police action helped recover part of the money.
Medak district SP D.V. Srinivasa Rao advised companies and individuals to independently verify any email or WhatsApp message seeking changes to bank account or payment details, particularly before making high-value transfers. Account numbers, IFSC codes and beneficiary names should be checked carefully. Users were also advised to secure email accounts with strong passwords and two-factor authentication and avoid opening suspicious links or attachments. OTPs, passwords and banking details should not be shared with others.
