Samsung has updated its Smart Switch data-transfer app under One UI 9, the software on its eighth-generation Galaxy Z series, to make switching from iOS to Galaxy easier, the company said.
The update applies to the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8 and Z Flip8.
Smart Switch is Samsung's app for moving contacts, photos, videos, messages, apps and settings from an Android or iOS device to a new Galaxy phone.
Under One UI 9, iOS users no longer need to install the Smart Switch app separately on their iPhone.
One UI 9 also expands the data Smart Switch can move from iOS to Galaxy.

Under One UI 9, iOS users no longer need to install the Smart Switch app separately on their iPhone. Instead, scanning a QR code displayed on the new Galaxy device starts the transfer, and the two devices can connect wirelessly without a cable or adapter, Samsung said.
One UI 9 also expands the data Smart Switch can move from iOS to Galaxy. Alongside previously supported photos, messages, contacts, calendars and apps, users can now transfer passwords and passkeys, call history, accessibility settings and eSIM information.
Users switching devices can also carry over settings such as swipe gestures and home screen layout, and further customise the interface with Samsung's Good Lock app, which allows personalisation of the home screen and app-switching behaviour.
Samsung has also updated Quick Share, its file-sharing feature. Devices running One UI 9 and One UI 8.5 get what Samsung describes as an enhanced cross-device sharing experience, and Quick Share is compatible with AirDrop, allowing Galaxy and iOS devices to share files with each other.
