Samsung's One UI 9 is finally available beyond its latest foldable phones and the Galaxy S26 FE. The company has begun the rollout of its latest software to other devices, starting with the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra.
As with the Z Fold 8 series and Z Flip 8, the updated software brings Android 17 along with camera and AI upgrades. My FanCam turns recorded videos into TikTok-ready clips by centering on a selected person, while Now Nudge suggests info in context (such as a restaurant reservation).
Now Brief receives AI-generated, customizable daily summary cards, while the AI-based Interpreter is both faster at translating and lets you reference conversation threads. Security also sees improvements, including alerts through Security Brief as well as privacy warnings and wider access to scam detection.
Creative Studio offers AI image generation ideas based on upcoming events like birthdays, while Voice Recorder produces its AI summaries in a more structured way that makes them easier to read. Even document scanning now uses AI to erase fingers when you're holding up your text.
Warranty and support info is easier to access with a dedicated space in Settings, Samsung says.

If you have a Galaxy S26 phone, you can expect a One UI 9 update very soon, if not necessarily immediately. Samsung hasn't said if your region will affect when you receive the software.
After that, it gets murky. Samsung makes no mention of the Galaxy A series or the Galaxy Tab family. The company took just over a month to deploy One UI 8.5 across its lineup, so we'd expect a similar timeline for the latest version. How far back the support gets depends on your phone and its age. S models and higher-end A models receive up to seven years of Android updates, while entry devices receive as little as two.
The revision is iterative. If you didn't like One UI before, this won't change your mind. It's ultimately a refinement of the experience from recent hardware. That's not a problem if you're already a Samsung fan, as this is mainly about keeping Android current on the phone you already have in your hands.
