Samsung opens Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Watch9 pre-orders in India

Samsung has opened pre-orders in India for its latest smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9, expanding its wearable portfolio with a stronger emphasis on artificial intelligence-driven health tracking. The new watches will go on general sale from August 7, bringing new health monitoring tools, brighter displays and longer battery life to users ranging from endurance athletes to everyday fitness enthusiasts.

The company says both smartwatches are designed for continuous wear, using AI to analyse data collected through their biosensors and translate it into personalised health insights covering sleep, physical activity, heart health and recovery.

"Our goal is to harness the power of AI to create a future where healthcare is preventive, continuous, and tailored to individual needs," said Aditya Babbar, Vice President, MX Business, Samsung India. He added that the new watches are designed to provide proactive health insights and timely alerts that help users make informed decisions about their wellbeing.

Leading the new lineup is the Galaxy Watch Ultra2, Samsung's most advanced smartwatch yet, aimed at outdoor enthusiasts and endurance athletes.

The wearable introduces a new Trail Run mode that measures elevation, climbing progress and terrain impact, helping runners better manage their pace during long-distance runs. Samsung has also added Nutrition Alert, which works alongside the existing Sweat Loss feature to estimate hydration needs based on sweat loss relative to body weight.

For divers, the Ultra2 adds professional-grade capabilities. The smartwatch carries IP69K, 10 ATM and EN13319 certifications, enabling it to automatically log depth, dive duration and water temperature. Later this year, Samsung plans to roll out the Ultra2 Diving app, developed with diving equipment maker Mares, offering additional metrics such as ascent and descent speed and safe dive time calculations.

Battery life has also received a boost. The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 packs an 800mAh battery, a 35 per cent increase over its predecessor, while Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon Elite platform powers the device.

The display now reaches 5,000 nits of peak brightness for improved outdoor visibility. Samsung has also redesigned the watch internally, making it 12 per cent thinner than the previous Ultra model despite accommodating the larger battery.

The smartwatch retains its titanium construction for durability while introducing lighter, softer bands intended for improved comfort during prolonged wear. It will be offered in a 47mm LTE version in Titanium Silver and Titanium Gray.

The Galaxy Watch9 is positioned as Samsung's mainstream smartwatch, prioritising comfort, all-day battery life and health tracking for everyday users.

It features an aluminium case while continuing Samsung's cushion-shaped design language. A revised fit and interchangeable soft-touch straps are intended to make the watch more comfortable during extended wear, including overnight use.

Like the Ultra2, the Watch9 runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon Elite platform. The 40mm model houses a 390mAh battery, while the 44mm version receives a 445mAh battery.

Its AMOLED display reaches 3,000 nits of peak brightness, making notifications and health information easier to read in bright sunlight.

Samsung will sell the Watch9 in 40mm and 44mm sizes. The smaller version comes in Graphite and Cream, while the larger model will be available in Graphite and Silver.

A major focus of Samsung's latest wearable strategy is AI-powered preventive healthcare.

Both watches continuously collect biometric and lifestyle data using onboard sensors before AI models analyse that information to generate personalised recommendations instead of simply displaying raw statistics.

Among the new features is Vitals, which establishes a user's health baseline during sleep and flags significant deviations. Heart Health Score provides a cardiovascular wellness rating alongside lifestyle recommendations, while Daily Cardio Load helps users understand workout intensity and recovery requirements.

Samsung has also introduced a Fitness Index, which evaluates overall physical fitness and offers personalised goals, while a new Hearing feature can detect exposure to potentially harmful noise levels and generate hearing reports.

Rather than focusing on isolated readings, Samsung says these features are designed to identify longer-term health trends that can help users better understand their overall wellbeing.

Samsung is also expanding its range of official watch bands.

For the Galaxy Watch Ultra2, users can choose from the Marine Band for water sports, the Peakform Band that blends everyday styling with athletic use, and the breathable Trail Band for running and endurance activities.

Galaxy Watch9 users will have access to a Sports Band, a soft silicone Misty Band with a two-tone finish and a lightweight Fabric Band designed for all-day and overnight wear.

Samsung is also extending support for its Samsung Care+ protection plan.

Customers purchasing either smartwatch through Samsung's online store and signing up for a monthly Samsung Care+ subscription will receive the first three months of coverage free.

Users running One UI 9 on compatible Galaxy smartphones will also be able to manage Samsung Care+ directly through the Warranty and Care menu, where they can access warranty information, run self-diagnostics, request repairs and contact remote support.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 (47mm LTE) is priced at ₹64,999.

The Galaxy Watch9 starts at ₹37,999 for the 40mm Bluetooth version, while the 40mm LTE model costs ₹41,999. The 44mm Bluetooth variant is priced at ₹40,999, while the 44mm LTE version costs ₹44,999.

Samsung has also announced a ₹1,500 pre-order benefit, redeemable on Samsung accessories, along with multi-buy offers, upgrade bonuses, cashback benefits and no-cost EMI options of up to 24 months, depending on the model purchased.
