Samsung’s latest Galaxy A27 5G enters the competitive sub-Rs 30,000 segment at a time when soaring memory chip prices have made it increasingly difficult for brands to deliver feature-rich smartphones. Despite these challenges, Samsung has equipped the Galaxy A27 with a capable display, a Snapdragon processor, and a versatile triple-camera system to stand out in the crowded mid-range market.

Design

The Galaxy A27 5G sports a flat-frame design like several other Galaxy A series models. The rear panel features a glossy finish.

On the right side, you’ll find the volume rocker and the power button, which also doubles as a fingerprint sensor. The left side houses the SIM tray, which also accommodates a microSD card for expandable storage.

While many competitors are racing to add dedicated AI assistant buttons to their smartphones, Samsung chooses to keep things minimalist.

We received the Light Green colour variant for review. The phone is also available in Black, Blue, and Light Pink.

Complementing the phone’s minimal yet elegant design is the pill-shaped camera island. It features a matte Light Green finish surrounding the camera sensors, lending the device a chic and refined appearance.

The LED flash sits alongside the camera module, which protrudes slightly from the rear panel.

At the bottom, you’ll find a USB Type-C port alongside a speaker grille. Samsung also claims that the device carries an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance.

Display

The Galaxy A27 5G is equipped with a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-O display with a resolution of 2,340 × 1,080 pixels. The panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate and offers up to 800 nits of High Brightness Mode (HBM). For durability, Samsung has protected the display with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+.

While we haven’t had enough time to test the display extensively, our initial impressions are positive. The panel delivers vibrant yet natural colours.

Processor

Powering the Galaxy A27 5G is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset paired with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. Users can further expand the storage by up to 2TB via a microSD card.

On paper, the specifications put the device on par with several competitors in this segment. But, you must wait for our detailed review to know more about it.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy A27 5G packs a triple rear camera array housed in a pill-shaped camera island. It comprises a 50-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilisation (OIS), a 5-megapixel ultra-wide shooter with an f/2.2 aperture, and a 2-megapixel macro camera with an f/2.4 aperture. For selfies and video calls, the phone is equipped with a 12-megapixel front-facing camera featuring an f/2.2 aperture.

Battery

Keeping the lights on is a 5,000mAh battery with support for 25W wired fast charging. During our brief usage, the phone was able to charge from 0 to 50 percent in roughly 30 to 40 minutes.
