On June 4, Hrithik posted a selfie on social media and opened up about a recent conversation regarding the type of characters he wants to portray. “Just got asked what's the kind of role I'm looking for. And I surprised myself when it came to me. Remember Zaffar from Luck by Chance? That's the one,” he wrote.
Expressing his fondness for the character, Hrithik added, “I'd jump on something like that. But directors only wanna see me play the good guy. Sad.” The post soon attracted responses from members of the film fraternity. Actor Harshvardhan Kapoor commented, “Love this post .. very excited for what’s to come.”
Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, who directed Luck By Chance, appeared interested in revisiting the conversation and replied, “Let’s get that coffee.” Director Sidharth Anand, who has collaborated with Hrithik on films such as Bang Bang, War and Fighter, responded with a brief but intriguing, “Chalo phir!”
Actor Sanjay Kapoor also joined the conversation with a humorous remark. Referring to his cameo appearance as a director in Luck By Chance, he wrote, “Zaffar from Luck by Chance then this time I will direct you, you chose Karan Johar last time in the movie.”

Hrithik's post also prompted speculation among fans. Some linked his mention of Luck By Chance, which was produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment, to the ongoing discussion surrounding Don 3. One fan commented, “Cheeky way to say you wanna do Don 3,” while another wrote, “pretty obvious why he is reminiscing a character he did for ‘Farhan’s’ film lol.”
The speculation comes months after reports suggested that Hrithik could potentially step into Don 3 amid uncertainty surrounding Ranveer Singh's association with the project. However, the actor had previously denied all such reports.
Addressing the rumours, Hrithik had issued a statement saying, “What started off as just a rumour has now taken a life of its own, and it's important to set the record straight. I would like to categorically clarify that I was never approached for Don 3 at any given time.”
On the professional front, Hrithik continues to remain highly selective about his projects. His primary focus is currently on Krrish 4, which he is set to direct and star in. The long-awaited superhero sequel remains one of the actor's most ambitious ventures and is currently in development.
