Ruby and Diamond Earrings to Headline Sotheby’s Hong Kong Auction

Sotheby’s is offering a pair of ruby and diamond earrings at its upcoming auction in Hong Kong, where it will have an upper estimate of HKD 20 million ($2.6 million).

The set sports two pear-shaped Burmese rubies, one 5.08 and the other 5.20 carats, in a surround of rose-cut diamonds. The lot will lead the September 17 High Jewelry sale, according to the Sotheby’s website.

The auction will showcase more than 200 lots, including pieces from famous designers such as Cartier, Harry Winston and Graff. The sale will also feature various gemstones, such as alexandrite, sapphire, Paraiba tourmaline and spinel.

Here are the rest of the top 10 jewels:

Estimate: HKD 8.8 million to HKD 16 million ($1.1 million to $2 million)

A ring centering an oval, 5.06-carat Burmese ruby adorned with pear-shaped and brilliant-cut diamonds weighing around 5 carats, in H to I color and VS to SI clarity.

Estimate: HKD 7.8 million to HKD 15.5 million ($994,696 to $2 million)

A ring bearing a cushion-cut, 7.52-carat Brazilian Paraiba tourmaline with brilliant-cut diamonds on the band.

Estimate: HKD 8 million to HKD 15 million ($1 million to $1.9 million)

A Harry Winston set comprising a ring and necklace. The ring includes a hexagonal step-cut Colombian emerald weighing 25.09-carats and brilliant-cut diamonds. The necklace is set throughout with marquise-shaped diamonds totaling around 36 carats.

Estimate: HKD 7 million to HKD 15 million ($892,648 to $1.9 million)

Also from Harry Winston, this pair of earrings features pear-shaped Colombian emeralds of 16.27 and a 17.03 carats, framed and suspended from pear- and marquise-shaped diamonds.

Estimate: HKD 9.5 million to HKD 11 million ($1.2 million to $1.4 million)

A Mauboussin necklace circa 1930 bears trembled Burmese rubies and ruby beads, alongside approximately 12 carats of brilliant- and old European-cut, square and baguette diamonds.

Estimate: HKD 6.5 million to HKD 9.5 million ($828,941 to $1.2 million)

This necklace comprises a graduated row of drop-shaped conch pearls measuring between 6.4 and 12.45 millimeters, alternating with cultured pearls and diamond briolette beads. The clasp contains a step-cut 0.30-carat emerald in a brilliant-cut diamond surround, with six additional conch pearls.

Estimate: HKD 5.5 million to HKD 9.5 million ($701,405 to $1.2 million)

A ring with a sugarloaf, 20.84-carat Kashmir cabochon sapphire in a baguette and brilliant-cut diamond frame.

Estimate: HKD 6.3 million to HKD 7.8 million ($803,429 to $994,722)

A ring set with a cushion-shaped, 6.05-carat Burmese ruby in a surround of eight pear-shaped diamonds.

Estimate: HKD 4.6 million to HKD 6 million ($586,600 to $765,130)

A Van Cleef & Arpels necklace featuring 72 carved Colombian emeralds beads weighing between 1.11 and 23.53 carats, with two shield-shaped diamonds on the clasp.
