According to a report from PWInsider Elite, the belief among several people the publication spoke to within WWE is that the company is seeking to headline the November Crown Jewel PLE in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia with Roman Reigns vs. Sami Zayn, which is why CM Punk dropped the Undisputed Championship to Zayn on last Friday’s WWE SmackDown.
PWInsider also notes the the win positions Zayn into the match with Reigns at Crown Jewel, as Undisputed WWE Champion and also leaves him with multiple challengers for the title.
The report further adds that this also allows WWE to hold off on rematching Punk and Reigns for another time down the line, if and when the company decides to do it.
