A new report from Fightful Select has revealed that MJF was the “driving creative force” behind the World Championship match between Kenny Omega and Kevin Knight, despite not being announced for the show in any capacity himself.
The former champion, who lost the title to Omega at the Beach Break edition of Dynamite amid reports he was set for time off, was notably behind the idea of the TNT Champion challenging for the World Title at the July event, though the specifics of Knight’s involvement are not attributed to him.
Knight was, for all intents and purposes, owed a title match after joining MJF’s team for the 12-man “Death’s Door” steel cage match at Forbidden Door.
AEW Redemption emanates from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on Sunday, July 26.
