Abhijeet Dipke, along with fellow CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, was detained by Delhi Police.

A passenger travelling on the Air India flight from Mumbai on which Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke was onboard criticised the protesters for inconveniencing the public, after Delhi Police personnel entered the aircraft at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and detained three party leaders ahead of their planned demonstration at Jantar Mantar.

“We were travelling from Mumbai. We had to wait even after the flight landed. After the flight landed, we could hear sloganeering of ‘Inquilab Zindabad’ from the front of the aircraft," the passenger told news agency ANI.

The passenger said they did not know who Abhijeet Dipke was, adding that the protest had caused inconvenience to fellow travellers.

“They were on a protest for 36 days earlier. But will they create inconvenience everywhere? Public is inconvenienced due to a few people like this," the passenger said.

Questioning the protesters’ approach to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, the passenger said that those who believed their names had been wrongfully deleted from electoral rolls could approach the Supreme Court.

“If the names of people have been wrongfully deleted, Supreme Court will look into it. They (protesters) are not going to look into it. Shut down courts if public will do everything. There is a system which we follow," the passenger said.

“If there is a problem, we will protest- will that help?" the passenger asked.

CJP Leaders Detained From Aircraft At Delhi Airport

Abhijeet Dipke, along with fellow CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, was detained by Delhi Police after Air India flight AI 2428 from Mumbai landed at Delhi’s IGI Airport on Saturday.

Police personnel entered the aircraft as the leaders prepared to travel to the national capital for the CJP’s planned protest at Jantar Mantar against the SIR exercise and to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

A video shared by Abhijeet Dipke on Instagram showed a commotion inside the aircraft as the party leaders questioned the police action and asked why officers had entered the plane instead of waiting for them to disembark.

“You can see where the nation is heading. They are here to arrest us directly from the flight. This is something not even Indira Gandhi had done. This is dictatorship. Delhi Police have entered the flight and are trying to arrest us," Abhijeet Dipke said.

“Please come, I have come here to be arrested; arrest me," he added.

In another exchange captured on video, Abhijeet Dipke was seen telling women police personnel, “You could have waited till we came out. Come arrest us; we are not afraid."

The police personnel responded, “No, this is not an arrest. Please cooperate."

The detentions came ahead of the CJP’s planned protest at Jantar Mantar. The party had called on supporters to gather for what it described as a “final call to save democracy", opposing the SIR exercise and seeking the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Delhi Police had denied permission for the proposed demonstration.
