The ministry of external affairs on Wednesday highlighted the success of Modi's five-nation tour and said it had been successful as he also met over 50 CEOs of large global companies. “A large number of these companies are already invested in India. Their cumulative investment and business exposure to India stands at around 180 billion US dollars,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.

PM Modi landed in Rome on Tuesday for the fifth and final leg of his five-nation tour, at the invitation of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and broke the internet hours later by dropping pictures with his Italian counterpart “friend”.

-PM Modi's visit comes as India and Italy continue to deepen ties under the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-2029, which focuses on cooperation in trade, investment, defence, clean energy, innovation, science and technology, and cultural exchanges.

-Bilateral trade between the two countries reached USD 16.77 billion in 2025, while cumulative Italian foreign direct investment in India stood at USD 3.66 billion between April 2000 and September 2025.

-The Italy visit is the last leg of PM Modi's five-nation tour that also spanned the UAE, the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway. Of all the visits, PM's Norway stop particularly made waves after a journalist's encounter with him for “not taking questions”.

-Meloni on Tuesday extended a warm welcome social media post upon PM Modi's arrival in Rome. Sharing a photograph with the Prime Minister on X, she wrote, “Welcome to Rome, my friend!” She also shared an earlier picture with Modi taken at the Colosseum in Italy. Modi had previously visited Italy in June 2024 to attend the G7 Summit 2024.
