Official trailer and plot of Peddi

Peddi follows an exceptionally gifted athlete from a remote hilltop village in the Vizianagaram region, where the community has long lived in isolation without basic recognition or connectivity. Set in 1994, the story follows Peddi, who earns a living as an aata coolie (player for hire), competing in local cricket tournaments while sharing a close bond with Appalasoori, an elder who dreams of securing a better future for the village.

After a personal tragedy shatters the community and Appalasoori's lifelong efforts end in heartbreak, Peddi vows to fulfill his friend's dream. Encouraged by veteran wrestler Gournaidu, he leaves cricket behind and trains relentlessly, rising through wrestling competitions before a devastating leg injury brings his career to an end.

Refusing to give up, Peddi reinvents himself as a para-athlete after undergoing an amputation and adapting to a running blade prosthesis. His determination culminates in victory at a national athletics event in 1996, where he uses his moment in the spotlight to draw attention to his village and its aspirations. His achievement inspires widespread support, leading to the village receiving long-awaited recognition and a railway station.

Declining personal honors, Peddi instead requests that the village be renamed Appalavalasa in memory of Appalasoori before returning home to reunite with Achiyamma and his family.

Years later, in 2016, a National Sports Ministry official visits the village, learns about Peddi's remarkable journey, and is inspired to launch an initiative to identify and nurture sporting talent from remote communities across India.
