Odisha braces for another spell of widespread rain, IMD issues yellow warning for 21 districts

Odisha is set to witness widespread rainfall over the coming days, with the weather system remaining active across different parts of the state. The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Bhubaneswar issued a yellow warning for 21 districts for Saturday.

Rainfall activity is likely across southern, northern and coastal Odisha. The weather centre forecast 7 to 11 cm of rain in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Nabarangpur and Kalahandi. 17 districts have been put under a yellow alert for light to moderate rain accompanied by lightning and thunder.

Two Cyclonic Circulations Trigger Rain Activity

The weather department attributed the rainfall activity to two cyclonic circulations prevailing near Odisha. One of them is located over north Odisha and adjoining South Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand.

The second circulation is positioned over the west-central and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal, as well as along the Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts. Both systems are expected to influence weather conditions over the state.

Rain To Continue For Five Days

Under the influence of these systems, rainfall is likely to continue across Odisha for the next five days.

Several districts are expected to experience varying intensity of rainfall during this period.
