New MG 7-Seater: What’s New?

The upcoming seven-seater will be MG’s version of the Wuling Darion, already on sale in international markets. In India, this MPV will likely rival the Toyota Innova Hycross. While the Hycross (4.75 m long) is popular among the masses for the space it offers, the JSW MG MPV is longer (about 4.9 m) than the Innova, which means more cabin space.

Interior

The Darion-based MPV for India is expected to carry over the features from the international model. Now, the international model isn’t fully loaded but is fairly well-equipped. It gets a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.8-inch driver’s display, wireless charging, Level-2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, six airbags, powered and ventilated front and second-row seats, and more.

Powertrain

The Darion-based MPV will be categorised under MG’s new-age programme. That said, it will be underpinned by the brand’s new ADAPT architecture, featuring a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Industry sources also suggest that an all-electric model of the Darion-based MPV will also be launched in India. The PHEV will get a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine paired with a 20.5 kWh battery pack. The electric version of the model will be equipped with a 69.2 kWh battery pack, with a claimed range of 520 kms.
