Skoda Kylaq CNG
Reports suggest that Skoda is evaluating retro-fitted/dealer-fitted CNG kits for the Kylaq. Demand for CNG has risen over the years, and it has particularly increased in the compact-SUV segment. Skoda has refrained from entering the CNG market so far, but now the demand could be forcing Skoda’s hand.
Reportedly, the CNG kit would be used on the 1.0-litre TSI engine. Fuel efficiency has never been its strong point; the CNG option could offer some relief to prospective customers. Its current power figures of 115 bhp & 178 Nm could also be tuned down to maximise efficiency. We expect a 22-24 km/kg fuel economy figure from the CNG.

What Else?
It is quite uncommon for CNG models to be offered with a torque-converter gearbox, which is why we expect only a six-speed MT to be offered for now. A conventional single CNG tank is expected with the Kylaq. The boot space would take a major hit with the tank in place. On the features front, it could carry over most of the equipment from the standard model. Even the aesthetics are expected to remain unchanged.

Skoda Kylaq CNG: Expected Pricing & Launch
The CNG kits could demand a Rs. 75,000-90,000 premium over the standard variants. The Kylaq is priced between Rs. 8.99 lakh and Rs. 15.50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Such pricing would be aggressive enough to compete against the CNG versions of the Fronx, Nexon and Brezza. Kylaq CNG’s launch could be pushed to mid- to late-2027.
