MG’s upcoming three-row electric SUV has made its clearest appearance yet. Hector Tomahawk EV has been spotted completely undisguised during what appears to be a TVC shoot at Magarpatta City in Pune. The location has been used for automotive shoots on several occasions.
The latest sighting comes soon after MG released multiple teasers of its first SUV based on the new ADAPT platform. Previous teasers deliberately concealed much of the exterior, but these new images provide a clear look at the front, side and rear-quarter design.
MG Hector Tomahawk EV – Production Design Spied
Up front, Hector Tomahawk EV gets a relatively clean and upright fascia. A closed-off upper section is expected for the EV, with a prominent MG badge positioned centrally. Slim horizontal LED DRLs extend outwards from the centre, while the main headlamp units are positioned vertically at the outer edges of the bumper.
A large lower air intake can also be seen, featuring horizontal elements. Unlike some newer electric SUVs that adopt highly futuristic or coupe-inspired styling, Hector Tomahawk maintains a conventional, boxy SUV shape. The SUV spotted in Pune is finished in a light green shade with contrasting black elements. Black treatment can be seen around the wheel arches and lower body, while the roof and pillars appear darker, creating a dual-tone effect.
Large Three-Row SUV Proportions
Its side profile gives a better idea of the overall dimensions and road presence. Hector Tomahawk EV has a long wheelbase and an extended rear section to accommodate the third row of seats. Earlier teasers have already confirmed a three-row cabin.
Other visible elements include conventional door handles, roof rails, large ORVMs and chunky black cladding around the wheel arches. The production model seen during the shoot also gets dual-tone alloy wheels with a geometric design.
The glasshouse is relatively large, particularly around the second and third rows, which should help improve visibility and make the cabin feel more spacious. A rising window line towards the rear and a sizeable D-pillar give the SUV a familiar three-row profile.
At the rear, the latest spy shots provide a partial glimpse of the tail lamp assembly. It appears to use a slim horizontal lighting signature extending towards the sides, consistent with what MG had shown in its earlier teasers.
Hector Tomahawk Name Expected
MG is yet to formally announce the production model’s name. However, the company recently trademarked Hector Tomahawk in India, while its latest teaser featured a Curtiss P-40 Tomahawk fighter aircraft prominently alongside the SUV. These clues strongly suggest Hector Tomahawk will be used for the upcoming EV.
The new SUV is expected to be based on the globally available Wuling Starlight 560, but with changes specifically for the Indian market. More importantly, it will become the first production vehicle to utilise MG’s new ADAPT architecture in India. ADAPT is a modular platform capable of supporting battery electric, plug-in hybrid, strong hybrid and range-extender powertrains. The first model, however, has already been confirmed as a pure electric vehicle.
Around 530 Km Range Expected
Based on details available so far, Hector Tomahawk EV could use a 69.2 kWh LFP battery pack paired with a front-mounted electric motor. The motor is expected to produce around 204 PS and 310 Nm. Its claimed range could be around 530 km on the CLTC cycle, although the final India-spec range certification and specifications could differ. A plug-in hybrid derivative could potentially follow at a later stage, given the flexibility of the ADAPT architecture.
MG Hector Tomahawk EV will enter India’s growing three-row electric SUV space and is expected to rival models such as Mahindra XEV 9S. With an undisguised production model now being used for a TVC shoot in Pune, an official reveal and launch should not be far away.
