New Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Reveals Doom's Throne Room & Major Battle

The biggest superhero team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will finally reunite this December.

Marvel Studios brought Avengers: Doomsday to San Diego Comic-Con 2026, as the film is less than half a year away from its theatrical release. The first half of the Multiverse Saga's final conflict sees Doctor Doom played by Robert Downey Jr. threatening multiple universes, bringing the Avengers together with both the new Fantastic Four and the 20th Century X-Men in a massive multiversal conflict. The movie will be released on December 18, 2026, with its follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars, arriving the year after on December 17, 2027.

During Marvel Studios' Hall H panel at SDCC, which ScreenRant was in attendance for, new footage of Avengers: Doomsday was revealed. In the trailer, Doom can be seen sitting in his throne room, with a glowing green, rune-like design on the floor. A voiceover from Sue Storm describes Victor von Doom as having been lost, but that she didn't know he was "broken." It cuts to Doom putting his hand on the mural featuring his wife and child from the movie's poster. According to Sue, he'd been "kind" and "caring" before "everything he loved was taken from him."

A destroyed city is showcased, seemingly representing a destroyed world. Reed Richards confronts Doom, asking if he's the one who did this, followed by Doom accusing the heroes of having "lived stolen lives." Doom fights Thor, who says he's going to send Doom to Hell, but takes his time doing it. While Thor swings down with Stormbreaker, Doom is easily able to block it, tossing it away and blasting Thor back in the process.

As the trailer plays out, it showcases a smattering of the familiar heroes Avengers: Doomsday will be highlighting as worlds collide. This includes Thor and Steve Rogers, who highlight the older generation of Avengers, Black Panther and Shang-Chi, representing the newer brand of heroes, and Magneto and Cyclops, emphasizing the X-Men's introduction into the MCU. The trailer's conflict boasts chaos and destruction, revealing more about Doom and his motivations without giving too much away regarding what the movie has in store.

The new footage continues building hype for the upcoming movie, which promises to be both an ending for the Multiverse Saga and a renewal for the MCU as a whole. Much like how Avengers: Infinity War offered a reason and backstory for Thanos' motivations, it seems Doom will be getting the same treatment as his multiverse plans begin to unfold. While the trailer has kept his overarching plans a mystery, it seems losing his family will be an important facet to why his plans occur the way they will.

So far, Avengers: Doomsday has revealed very little about the story. But this trailer delivers a bit more context to his goals, while also promising a number of epic confrontations between him and heroes new and old. With the movie less than five months away from its theatrical debut, plenty more is bound to be revealed about Doom, his motivations, and how the core heroes will stop him, as both teams and worlds collide.
