Mahindra’s XUV 700 formula has already worked in the Indian market, and the updated XUV 7XO is a cherry on top. However, soon things will heat up, as this 7-seater SUV segment will see some new entrants. Now, Hyundai is also reportedly eyeing this segment, as its Alcazar isn’t performing well.

According to industry reports, Hyundai is planning to bring a new 7-seater SUV. There isn’t any major information about the product out yet, but we expect it to be based on the upcoming New-Gen Hyundai Creta.
Now, we know that the Creta will be getting a generational update next year. This will shift the Creta’s platform from K2 (current) to K3 (new), like the Seltos. This will help it have an extended length. Now, the 7-seater Hyundai might also be built on the same K3 platform. We can expect this new 7-seater SUV to boast a length of 4.6m, to match its rivals – Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV 7XO. At present, we can’t comment on the design, as the new model is yet to be spotted.

Features & Powertrains
Talking about the feature suite, expect the model to carry over several features from its 5-seater sibling. That said, the features could include: a new Pleos infotainment unit, a small pop-out instrument cluster, wireless charging, ventilated and powered front seats, boss mode, multi-colour ambient lighting and much more.

At present, the Kia Seltos, which is based on the K3 platform, has scored a full five-star safety rating – even though it is the safest SUV in its segment. Hence, we can expect a similar safety score from the new Hyundai Creta, as well as this 7-seater. Safety tech on the model could include: 6 airbags (standard), Level 2+ ADAS, Hill hold control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), 360-degree camera, and more.
Powertrain details aren’t revealed yet. But we expect it to carry the 1.5-litre engines from the Hyundai Creta. Apart from that, it could also include the new hybrid tech that will debut with the new Creta.

New Hyundai 7-Seater Launch & Expected Pricing
While Hyundai is yet to share anything about this 7-seater, there will be much more time before we could see it in showrooms. Expect the 7-seater to launch by the end of 2027 or early 2028. Speaking of the pricing, expect the model to be priced between Rs 18 lakh – Rs 28 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
The Hyundai 7-seater will likely rival the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari, and the upcoming Renault Boreal in India.
