The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall across Maharashtra on Thursday, June 25, with alerts issued for 31 districts, according to a Times Now report. 3 / 10 According to the IMD’s latest forecast, north Konkan is likely to witness thundershowers accompanied by lightning and light winds reaching 50-60 kmph at isolated places. The region is also expected to receive heavy rain at several places and very heavy rainfall at isolated locations. In south Konkan-Goa, the weather office has warned of heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places, while parts of north Madhya Maharashtra are likely to see thunderstorms with lightning.

4 / 10 The monsoon has intensified across Maharashtra over the past two days, bringing rain to almost every region of the state. While some places have recorded heavy showers, others have received light to moderate rainfall. The rain intensity has been particularly high in Mumbai, Konkan and Goa, bringing respite from the prolonged heat. Rainfall has been recorded across the Konkan coast as well as in Nashik, Jalgaon, Parbhani, Jalna, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Amravati, Yavatmal, Nagpur and Chandrapur districts. The monsoon has also advanced further into Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.

5 / 10 In Konkan, all districts have been placed under a yellow alert, with the IMD forecasting light to moderate rain accompanied by thundershowers in some areas and winds of 30-40 kmph. Sindhudurg is likely to receive particularly heavy rain. The weather office has advised residents to take precautions and carry rain gear while stepping outdoors. Monsoon activity has also strengthened over western Maharashtra. Pune and Satara districts have been placed under an orange alert, while Kolhapur, Sangli and Solapur are under a yellow alert. These districts are likely to receive moderate rainfall at isolated places, along with winds of 30-40 kmph.

6 / 10 In the Marathwada region, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli and Nanded have all been issued yellow alerts. Winds in these districts may reach 40-45 kmph, with light to moderate rainfall expected at many places. With the onset of the monsoon, sowing activity has picked up and agricultural operations have begun, bringing a sense of optimism to the farming sector.

7 / 10 North Maharashtra districts including Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Nashik are also likely to receive rain, with humidity levels rising across the region. The change in weather has provided relief from the heat and altered atmospheric conditions in these districts.

8 / 10 In Vidarbha, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha and Yavatmal. Some districts in the region are under yellow alert, while others have been placed on orange alert, as rainfall activity spreads eastward and eases heat conditions there as well.

9 / 10 The IMD has also forecast a gradual fall in temperatures. Maximum temperatures across the Maharashtra region are expected to drop by 2-4°C over the next two days before stabilising, while no major change is expected in the Gujarat region over the next seven days. Minimum temperatures in Maharashtra are also likely to decline gradually over the next four to five days.
