Prime Minister Narendra Modi has “ turned my life into hell ”, a 15-year-old girl has purportedly alleged in a video being widely shared on social media.

Scroll was unable to independently verify when or where the video was recorded. However, the girl’s lawyer confirmed to The Tribune that the video was not generated using artificial intelligence .

The girl in the video had been booked on July 30 for making purportedly objectionable remarks about the prime minister during the youth protests at Jantar Mantar.

A day later, she apologised for her purportedly objectionable remarks. But her mother told The Telegraph that the family was forced to move out of their rented home in Noida “after being hounded by police and mediapersons”.

Scroll had reported that several supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party had also shared a phone number and names of her family members on social media. These posts had abusive and sexually-coloured comments about the 15-year-old.

In the recent video shared by the Congress on Monday, the girl alleged that the prime minister had had her “tortured” to the extent that she had “lost everything”, including her freedom.

“I am unable to leave my home and have had to hide my face wherever I go,” she can be heard saying.

The Congress said that the prime minister should be “ashamed” for allegedly getting a “15-year-old trolled by BJP goons”.

'मोदी जी, आपने मेरी ज़िन्दगी नरक बना दी है'

- ये बात 15 साल की रुचिका ने कही है, जिसे मोदी ने गुंडों से डरा-धमकाकर माफी मंगवाई थी

रुचिका का कहना है 👇

"नरेंद्र मोदी ने मुझे इतना टॉर्चर करवाया है कि मेरा सबकुछ छिन गया है। अब मेरे पास खोने के लिए कुछ नहीं बचा।"

The FIR against the girl had been registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita pertaining to intentional insult to provoke breach of peace, statements conducing to public mischief and defamation.

A day after she apologised, Modi posted a video on social media, in which he said that he wanted to forgive the students who had allegedly made objectionable remarks about him.

Soon after, the complaint against the 15-year-old was withdrawn, reported PTI. However, it remained unclear if the FIR had been withdrawn.

The youth protests against alleged mismanagement of several competitive examinations had begun on June 6, when the Cockroach Janta Party political campaign staged a demonstration at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar to demand the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union education minister at the time.

On July 20, thousands joined the protest. This came two days after the police forcibly took activist Sonam Wangchuk, who had been on a hunger strike for three weeks, to hospital.

The protesters’ march to Parliament was met with a crackdown by the police. Dozens were injured as the police used lathis, fired tear gas shells and pellet guns against the demonstrators.

The police action turbocharged the agitation, which spread to other parts of the country. Pradhan resigned as the education minister on July 25.
