According to the complaint filed by the survivor, the incident took place on August 5 in the Pine Forest situated along the Jeypore–Koraput road. The survivor had reportedly visited the area with a male friend for a photo shoot.

While they were at the location, three unidentified youths allegedly arrived with their faces covered in black cloth. The youths were reportedly carrying knives and threatened the survivor and her friend.

The accused allegedly looted Rs 8,300 from the duo. The amount reportedly included cash as well as money transferred through online payment methods. After the robbery, the accused allegedly took the survivor into the forest against her will and sexually assaulted her one after another.

Following the complaint, police began an investigation and identified and arrested two of the accused. A search operation has reportedly been launched to apprehend the third accused, who remains absconding.
