Used Maserati Ghibli

We have found this 2017 Maserati Ghibli listed on the marketplace for a price of Rs 32.5 lakh, which is slightly higher than a top-end Tata Safari. It has been driven for a mere 12,600 km and is a first-owner car. This deal sounds too good to be true. It may not be an SUV, but it still flaunts solid road presence. It rocks an elegant design language with subtle hints like quad exhausts indicating that it is much more than just a businessman’s car. Other aesthetic elements like the signature Maserati grille, tri-fender vents and the trident logo on the C-pillar remind you of its history. The Ghibli is an iconic name in Maserati’s history, and this model lives up to the name.

Interior

The first thing you notice after opening the gorgeous frameless doors is the maroon interior. While some may find it a tad gaudy, but Italian sportscar makers are famous for not shying away from the extravagant. It also gets loads of features like –

3-zone climate control

Powered front seats

Front parking sensors

Reverse Camera

Cruise Control

8.4-inch infotainment screen

7-inch TFT driver’s display

7-airbags

It may not be as feature-loaded as the Tata Safari, but you would forget about all of these features once you press on the gas pedal.

Maserati Ghibli – Powertrain

Under its long engine bay is housed a 3.0-litre V6 diesel that produces 275bhp and 600Nm of torque. This V6 is mated to an 8-speed AT and a RWD drivetrain. But what’s more interesting is that it has a claimed mileage of 20.32kmpl (47.8MPG). You get a whopping 600Nm of torque under your right foot and yet you can manage a better efficiency figure than the Tata Safari. But don’t expect such good figures if you are a bit enthusiastic with the throttle. You get a beautiful car with a healthy mileage, premium and practical interiors, and impressive power figures for a decent price. The deal sounds too good to be true, but is it?

What’s The Catch?

The obvious catch is the maintenance. While the Tata Safari could cost you around Rs 15,000 in maintenance costs every year, a Maserati would set you back in lakhs. Not to mention, sourcing for spares and locating service centres will be a tedious task. Additionally, Maseratis aren’t known for being reliable. On paper, this deal is quite enticing, but when you factor in things like reliability and maintenance, the deal isn’t so good anymore. These factors are a key reason for why it has depreciated so much over the years. Moreover, it is a diesel, so if you are living in Delhi or any other states that is showing eagerness to ban old diesel vehicles, this deal isn’t for you.
