UPDATE: With 2pm now passed in the UK, Marvel's big Avengers: Doomsday surprise appears to have been an appearance by directors Joe and Anthony Russo at today's Doctor Doom-themed pop-up coffee shop.

More like this Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Imminent, Fans Believe, Following Teaser from Former Fortnite Boss As reported earlier, an address teased by the duo turned out to be little more than a reskinned cafe, with Doctor Doom-related coffee varieties and coaster freebies. According to fans who turned up at 2pm for Marvel's promised "surprise", the directors turned up for a meet-and-greet with fans, who left with signed bags of coffee beans.

While today has brought no new Avengers: Doomsday trailer, two notable elements from today are worth flagging. Firstly, the slogan "Richards was wrong" seen in the shop, and secondly, the full reveal of the Latverian flag that had previously been teased on social media. (Presumably the Richards here is Reed, but what could he be wrong about? And what if it's Franklin Richards who is wrong instead?)

ORIGINAL STORY: Marvel fans have reacted in disappointment after today's much-anticipated Avengers: Doomsday tease turned out to be for a Doctor Doom-themed coffee shop.

The pop-up branch of Dom Latveria Coffee (in reality, a rebranded Flying Horse Coffee outlet in Shoreditch) is open now in east London, located near the SXSW London festival.

It's at that festival that Avengers: Doomsday directors Joe and Anthony Russo are due to appear to talk about their production company. Rather than offering new insight on their Marvel work, however, this coffee outlet down the road now appears to be the thing that their colleague Donald Mustard (previously boss of Fortnite) recently teased.

Videos shared online by Marvel fans at the coffee shop show that Dom Latveria allows you to buy Latveria-branded bags of small batch coffee adorned with the country's emblem. This is the design that the Russos and Mustard have slowly revealed over the past week on social media — prompting fans to again speculate that a new trailer was near.

"The official coffee of world domination," read the bags. "Approved by the ministry of morale. Resistance is delicious."

Product information on the coffee bags describes it as being harvested from the Finca Latveria Reserve by "those who serve." In reality, these seem like standard arabica beans.

An extra sign on the outlet's regular menu board states "Welcome to Latveria" and then the intriguing addition: "Richards was wrong." Other than that, the outlet's menu simply advertises all the branch's coffee types (a flat white is £4.10, if you're wondering).

To be fair, Mustard's social media post yesterday had included the address of the Flying Horse Coffee outlet — though without naming the branch, or specifying what might be found there. Many had assumed the address simply referred to the nearby SXSW Festival venue. And then there's the mention of a "surprise at 2pm" — a few hours from now.

While there may still be more going on than meets the eye, fans are now putting their expectations in check and discounting the likelihood that any of this has been leading to an explosive new Avengers: Doomsday trailer.

"That's all there is at the popup?" wrote one fan after seeing the above video. "At this point, I think the 'surprise' will be the Russo Brothers and RDJ showing up there," commented Marvel fan Andrei Von Doom via X/Twitter. "Honestly, I hope I’m wrong and we get a Doomsday trailer today."

Avengers Doomsday launches in theaters on December 18, 2026. Until then, you can see what Joe Russo had to say about spoilers for this year's movie ahead of its release .
