Renault Bigster Spotted – 7 Seater Duster
It had become common news that Renault will be launching a 7-seater version of the Duster soon. Renault already sells such an SUV abroad under the Dacia brand called the Bigster. And we expect Renault to be testing the Bigster for the Indian market now. However, it is still too early to predict what it could be called in India, as reports suggested it could be called the Boreal rather than Bigster.
From the spyshots, it simply looks like an elongated version of the Duster. The rugged design language continues in this 7-seater. Interestingly, this test mule sports a Nissan-specific camouflage. Such a camouflage was previously spotted on Tekton test mules. But what gives this model away as a Renault is the headlights. This test mule has borrowed the units from the Duster. Even the V-shaped taillights and alloy wheels have been directly lifted from the Duster.

On the inside, the only change would be adding a 3rd row. The cabin would feature the same 10.1-inch infotainment screen and 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. The feature list would be identical, and it is expected to include Level-2 ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, an electric tailgate, wireless charging, and ventilated and powered front seats. A key addition to its feature list could be a ventilated 2nd-row seat. The Mahindra XUV7XO and Tata Safari offer this feature, and Renault could copy the other 2.
The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine might be a bit underpowered for this 7-seater, which is why Renault could offer it with a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol as standard. Gearbox options could include a 6-speed DCT and a 6-speed MT. Renault has hinted at a 4WD system, and the Bigster could benefit from it.

Renault Bigster – Expected Pricing & Launch
The Bigster will compete against the Mahindra XUV7XO, Tata Safari and the MG Hector Plus. This means it will be priced between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 30 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
The Bigster could be launched by the end of this year. Renault already has the Duster hybrid planned for later this year, and the Bigster could launch around the same time. This 7-seater could offer a 1.8-litre strong-hybrid powertrain from the get-go. The Bigster will also be launched under Nissan’s guise shortly after.
