Chasing 143, Grace Harris (37) and Amy Jones (21) gave Spirit a flying start with a 55-run opening stand before both departed in quick succession.
Their dismissals triggered a collapse as Spirit slipped from 55/0 to 67/4 after also losing Marizanne Kapp and Sterre Kalis.
Opting to bowl, Kapp gave the visitors an early breakthrough by dismissing Beth Mooney for a golden duck.
Sophia Dunkley and Sophie Luff steadied Trent Rockets with a brisk 33-run stand, but Kapp returned to remove both batters and finished with figures of 3-12.
