Law student dies, woman collapses at Mumbai concert; alcohol, drug angle under lens

A 28-year-old law student died after collapsing during a techno music concert at Mumbai's NSCI Dome on Saturday evening. While investigators suspect excessive alcohol consumption may have contributed to the incident, police have not ruled out a possible drug angle. At the same concert, a 31-year-old woman reportedly suffered health complications after consuming alcohol and energy drinks. The incident comes barely two months after two management students allegedly died following a suspected drug overdose at a techno music concert organised at the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon. In that case, Vanrai Police arrested 10 people, including several management students from a reputed South Mumbai college, along with alleged drug peddlers from Kalyan who were accused of supplying ecstasy tablets at the event.

At the same concert, a 31-year-old woman reportedly suffered health complications after consuming alcohol and energy drinks. She was admitted to Jaslok Hospital, where her condition was stabilised.

The 31-year-old, who remains under treatment, told police she had not consumed any narcotic substances.

In that case, Vanrai Police arrested 10 people, including several management students from a reputed South Mumbai college, along with alleged drug peddlers from Kalyan who were accused of supplying ecstasy tablets at the event.

The April deaths had raised concerns over security arrangements and anti-narcotics checks at large-scale music events, with investigators alleging that drugs were being circulated among attendees with relative ease.
