Kia Syros EV Details Leak – 500+ Km Range, Lifetime Battery Warranty?

Syros EV will be Kia’s smallest electric SUV in India, positioned below Carens Clavis EV while sharing much of the electric powertrain technology. According to information circulating online, Kia Syros EV could be offered with 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery pack options. These are identical to the battery sizes already available with Hyundai Creta EV and Kia Carens Clavis EV. However, despite sharing the same battery capacities, Syros EV is expected to deliver a higher claimed driving range. Being smaller and lighter than both Creta EV and Carens Clavis EV should allow it to extract greater efficiency from the battery packs.

Unconfirmed details suggest two battery pack options (same as Carens Clavis EV), up to 520 km claimed range and a lifetime battery warranty

Ahead of its expected launch in India, key specifications of the upcoming Kia Syros EV have surfaced online, giving an early glimpse of what the electric SUV could offer. While Kia India has not officially confirmed these details, the information appears consistent with the company’s existing EV lineup and strategy. Syros EV will be Kia’s smallest electric SUV in India, positioned below Carens Clavis EV while sharing much of the electric powertrain technology.

Same Battery Packs As Carens Clavis EV?

According to information circulating online, Kia Syros EV could be offered with 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery pack options. These are identical to the battery sizes already available with Hyundai Creta EV and Kia Carens Clavis EV.

However, despite sharing the same battery capacities, Syros EV is expected to deliver a higher claimed driving range. Being smaller and lighter than both Creta EV and Carens Clavis EV should allow it to extract greater efficiency from the battery packs. The surfaced specifications suggest:

– Up to 443 km claimed range with the 42 kWh battery

– Up to 520 km claimed range with the 51.4 kWh battery

Extensive Warranty Package Expected

If true, these figures would place Syros EV among the longest-range electric SUVs in its segment. Another interesting detail that has surfaced online relates to the ownership package. Kia is reportedly expected to offer an industry-leading 15-year or lifetime battery warranty, which would be one of the most comprehensive battery coverage plans available in India.

The vehicle is also expected to come with a 3-year standard vehicle warranty, extendable up to 7 years or 1.6 lakh km, along with a buyback assurance programme aimed at improving resale value and lowering ownership concerns. As these details have not yet been officially announced, the exact terms and conditions remain to be seen.

Launch Likely Soon

Kia India recently teased upcoming HEV and BEV models for the Indian market, indicating that multiple electrified products are on the way. Syros EV is widely expected to be among the next launches along with Sorento Hybrid.

Apart from the battery specifications, the upcoming electric SUV is expected to offer features similar to Kia’s latest products, including a large touchscreen infotainment system, connected car technology, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof and a comprehensive safety package.

For now, these specifications should be treated as preliminary, as Kia India has not officially confirmed them. More details regarding performance, charging capability, features, variants and pricing are expected to be revealed closer to the official launch.
