Karan Johar has shared a heartfelt review of Prime Video's latest crime drama Raakh, praising its storytelling and performances while admitting that the series left him emotionally shaken. The filmmaker took to Instagram to express his thoughts after watching the show, which stars Sonali Bendre, Ali Fazal and Aamir Bashir in pivotal roles. Interestingly, Johar's post comes days after he made headlines for unfollowing nearly everyone on Instagram as part of what he described as a digital detox aimed at reducing screen time.

Sharing his reaction to the series, Karan wrote, "I was trying to take time off from the gram… I thought I was successful till I saw this gut wrenching series and felt the need to express myself." He further revealed how strongly the show affected him emotionally. "It's 1.35 am and I am deeply disturbed after watching the last episode… Disturbed as a parent, as a human being, and as a member of society."

The filmmaker said the series explores the darkest aspects of human nature. "The ugliest side of humanity is what RAAKH explores…. No justification or childhood trauma is reason enough to succumb to an inner devil." Karan also admitted that the series may stay with him for a long time. "I am not sure I will recover soon from this trauma binge…"

While discussing the show's creative team, he praised director Prosit Roy's handling of the subject matter. "What I need to applaud is Prosit Roy's incredible story telling, strong hold and non manipulative approach of emotional depiction and a special chefs kiss to his undeniable craft."

However, it was the performances that left the strongest impression on him. Karan reserved special praise for Sonali Bendre and Aamir Bashir, calling their work among the finest of their careers. He wrote, "What I can't get out of my head are the career defining performances of @iamsonalibendre and @bashiraamir. Their portrayal of the pathos pained parents in the face of unsurmountable tragedy left me awestruck. They became the characters and I salute their depiction."
