Reacting to the exchange, Kangana shared a video of the interaction on her Instagram Stories and took a dig at Jaya's response.

"When you sit on dharna so that you can make a point in front of the whole world but when they ask you what point you want to make? Jaya B ji - 'nahi bataungi'," Kangana wrote, adding laughing emojis.

Jaya Bachchan on the protest

In a conversation with India Today's Mausami Singh, Jaya spoke about the ongoing protest and said that she and the other leaders would continue their agitation "jab tak pair chal sakta hai" (as long as their legs can carry them).

When asked whether she believed the protest was a fight to save democracy and whether the Election Commission was being discriminatory, Jaya said, "Bilkul. Bilkul (Absolutely)."

She was also asked about the unity of the INDIA bloc, with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also joining the protest.

Asked what message the gathering was meant to send, Jaya said, "Kya message dena hai? Itne sab log message de rahe hain, hum unmein shamil hain (What message is there to give? So many people are giving messages; we are one of them)."

The exchange comes amid the Opposition's protest over the functioning of the Election Commission. Jaya has been among the leaders participating in the agitation.

The political standoff intensified in the national capital as Delhi Police detained Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi, along with several MPs, and took them to Kingsway Camp Police Station. The detentions came amid Opposition protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Outside the police station, Congress workers gathered in large numbers, surrounding the buses carrying the detained leaders and raising slogans. Senior Congress leaders, including KC Venugopal and Raja Warring, also confronted the police deployed at the spot.

Kangana Ranaut, meanwhile, has frequently criticised Opposition leaders and has previously spoken out against Jaya Bachchan on social media. Her latest reaction has once again brought their contrasting views into focus.
