As part of the anti-dengue campaign being undertaken by the Health Department to prevent the spread of dengue, Kapurthala Civil Surgeon Dr Rajeev Prashar conducted a field inspection on Friday to identify potential mosquito breeding sites and check for dengue larvae.
AdvertisementDuring the inspection, Dr Prashar examined various locations where stagnant water could accumulate and directed Health Department teams to conduct regular surveillance and take immediate measures to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.
Dr Prashar said the most effective way to prevent dengue was to stop the breeding of the mosquitoes that transmit the disease.
Advertisement“If we stop mosquito breeding today, we can prevent dengue tomorrow,” Dr Prashar said.
He stressed that dengue prevention was not the responsibility of the Health Department alone and required the active participation of every citizen.

He urged residents to ensure that water did not stagnate around homes, colleges, hospitals and other institutions. Coolers, flowerpots, discarded tyres, broken utensils and other containers capable of collecting water should be kept clean and dry, he added.

“If we stop mosquito breeding today, we can prevent dengue tomorrow,” Dr Prashar said. The Civil Surgeon appealed to residents to observe a ‘Dry Day’ every week by emptying and cleaning all water-holding containers in and around their homes. He stressed that dengue prevention was not the responsibility of the Health Department alone and required the active participation of every citizen.
