Isha Ambani Piramal’s Navratri look has once again put Indian craftsmanship at the centre of festive dressing. The ensemble brings together Kalamkari and Odisha’s Pattachitra art on pure silk, with hand-painted depictions of Radha and Krishna’s Raas running across the kali panels, choli and dupatta.
Isha Ambani stepped out in a Karan Torani lehenga choli made in collaboration with Swadesh and styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania, the look carries the rhythm of Garba and the quiet devotion of the season in every pleat .
According to Torani, ten artisans spent more than 90 days painting the garment, contributing an estimated 2,000-plus hours of work to bring its intricate surface to life.
Isha’s ensemble centred on a fitted choli and a full, flowing lehenga in pure silk, its surface adorned with Kalamkari and Odisha’s Pattachitra painting. Across the skirt, Radha and Krishna appear in the Raas, their figures rendered in deep blues, reds and golds against a cream ground. Trees, lotuses, peacocks and architectural motifs filled the spaces between the divine figures, creating a story that moves as the skirt turns.
The painted surface of the lehenga was full of traditional embellishment techniques like Zardozi, French knots, moti work and mirrors add texture and dimension, while the multicoloured tassels and pom-poms edge the sleeves and the hem brought movement to the ensemble. Each element contributed to a layered aesthetic that brought together textile art, embroidery and festive dressing without losing sight of the traditions behind them.
Torani described the outfit as a garment conceived to reflect the spirit of Navratri, drawing on the rhythm of Garba, the collective energy of dancing and the devotion. Its references to Radha and Krishna’s Raas brought another layer of meaning to the design, connecting the visual narrative with ideas of devotion, togetherness and celebration.
The ensemble also paid tribute to Devi Shakti, reflecting the tenderness and courage associated with the divine feminine.
Isha Ambani paired the stunning outfit with jewelery from mother Mrs Nita Ambani’s personal collection- a heavy, multi-layered gold choker set with pearls and coloured stones sitting high on the neck. She matched it with long earrings swinging with every movement and stacked bangles in gold and enamel, rings, and an elaborate hair ornament of shells, beads, tassels and fabric flowers complete the adornment. Her hair was pulled back and finished with a sculptural accessory, highlighting the face and the jewellery.
