The India-spec Kia Sorento SUV will be offered with AWD. This was an expected step considering that the car, in addition to the hybrid package, will also be offered with diesel power, which is what will get the AWD option.
The diesel engine in question is Kia’s 2.2-litre diesel producing 190bhp and 441Nm. This is the same engine in the Carnival and is mated to an eight-speed AT. While the Carnival is FWD, the Sorento will get it with AWD also. The AWD package includes drive modes and terrain modes.
The Sorento will be Kia’s largest SUV in India and is their answer to cars like the Toyota Fortuner, MG Majestor, Volkswagen Tayron, Skoda Kodiaq and future models like the Hyundai Santa Fe and Honda CR-V. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 40 lakh and Rs. 45 lakh and will be one of the biggest leaps that Kia has taken in terms of its model range.
