Major Changes in IBPS PO 2026

The IBPS PO 2026 Notification introduces several important changes in the Mains exam pattern, vacancy distribution, and recruitment guidelines that candidates should be aware of before starting their preparation.

Mains Exam Pattern Revised: The objective test has been restructured with 170 questions (earlier 145) while the total marks (200) and overall duration (160 minutes) remain unchanged.

Reasoning Section: Time reduced from 50 minutes to 45 minutes , while questions (40) and marks (60) remain unchanged.

General/Economy/Banking/Digital/Financial Awareness: Increased from 35 questions (50 marks, 25 min) to 50 questions (60 marks, 35 min).

English Language: Increased from 35 to 40 questions , but marks reduced from 40 to 20 and sectional time reduced from 40 to 35 minutes .

Data Analysis & Interpretation: Increased from 35 questions (50 marks) to 40 questions (60 marks) , with the sectional time remaining 45 minutes.

Descriptive Paper: No change.

Higher Reported Vacancies: IBPS has announced 6,715 indicative vacancies , an increase of 1,500+ vacancies (around 29%) compared to the previous recruitment cycle.

Growth Driven by Reporting Banks: The increase in vacancies comes from the eight reporting banks, with Bank of Baroda (1,900 vacancies) and Canara Bank (1,500 vacancies) contributing the largest share.

Three Banks Still Marked ‘NR’: Indian Bank, UCO Bank, and Union Bank of India have once again reported NR (Not Reported) vacancies in this recruitment cycle.

Credit History Clause Removed: Unlike previous notifications, the Credit History/CIBIL Score requirement is not included in the IBPS PO 2026 notification, providing relief to many aspirants.
