Venue became Hyundai’s best-selling model in June, while production disruption caused by a supplier fire impacted overall dispatches

Hyundai Motor India dispatched 39,635 units in June 2026, registering a 9.97% YoY decline compared to 44,024 units sold in June 2025. Sales were also down 17.15% MoM from 47,837 units recorded in May 2026. The decline, however, was largely due to a fire at one of Hyundai’s supplier facilities, which temporarily disrupted component supplies and affected production during the month. Despite the weak June performance, Hyundai’s Q2 CY2026 sales remained positive, growing 5.38% YoY to 1,39,374 units.

Hyundai June 2026 Sales Breakup

The biggest surprise in June was Venue emerging as Hyundai’s highest-selling model. It posted sales of 10,776 units, up 57.13% YoY, accounting for over 27% of Hyundai’s monthly volumes. Second place went to Exter, which continued its strong momentum with 8,154 units, registering 38.84% YoY growth. It also witnessed healthy sequential growth of 23.64% over May.

Creta and Creta EV, traditionally Hyundai’s volume leaders, dropped to third position with 7,168 units. Sales were down sharply by 54.59% YoY and 52.95% MoM. This decline is understood to be linked primarily to production constraints rather than demand. Among sedans, Aura delivered a steady performance with 5,977 units, growing 10.42% YoY and 17.73% MoM.

The Grand i10 NIOS was another bright spot, recording 4,865 units. While it improved 14.82% YoY, it posted an impressive 66.61% month-on-month increase, one of the strongest gains across Hyundai’s portfolio. On the other hand, premium hatchback i20 slipped to 1,828 units, declining 51.70% YoY and 61.51% MoM.

Verna managed 554 units, down 31.86% YoY, while Alcazar recorded 304 units, witnessing the steepest decline among core models at 74.11% YoY. At the premium end, IONIQ 5 contributed 9 units, while Tucson registered no dispatches during the month.

Q2 2026 – Creta Still Leads Overall

Despite its weak June performance, Creta and Creta EV comfortably remained Hyundai’s best-selling model during the April-June 2026 quarter. Combined sales stood at 37,694 units, although this was 20.91% lower than the corresponding period last year.

Venue emerged as the biggest success story of the quarter. Sales jumped 56.33% YoY to 34,910 units, narrowing the gap with Creta considerably. If the current trend continues, Venue could challenge Creta’s long-held position as Hyundai’s top-selling model in the coming months.

Exter continued its consistent growth trajectory with 22,845 units, up 32.91% YoY, strengthening Hyundai’s presence in the compact SUV segment. Aura recorded 15,641 units with modest 5.24% growth, while i20 improved slightly to 12,201 units, up 7.03% YoY for the quarter.

Interestingly, Grand i10 NIOS declined 6.16% YoY during Q2 despite its strong June performance, indicating a weaker start to the quarter. Among the remaining models, Verna fell 22.05%, Alcazar declined 36.78%, while IONIQ 5 remained flat with 39 units. Tucson recorded no dispatches during the quarter.

Temporary Production Impact

While June numbers appear weak across several models, Hyundai’s overall Q2 sales still increased 5.38% YoY, suggesting that demand remained relatively stable. The company’s June dispatches were affected by production disruptions following a fire at a supplier’s facility, impacting availability across multiple models. With production already normalized, Hyundai’s sales performance in July should provide a clearer picture of underlying market demand.
