Amid the escalating dispute, Congress MP and TPCC Disciplinary Committee Chairman Mallu Ravi has issued a notice to Konda Surekha over her daughter's remarks.

Rapid Read

Sushmita's decision to publicly challenge the Chief Minister's position has once again exposed differences within the Warangal Congress.

Telangana Congress Rift: The differences within the Telangana Congress have come out in the open once again, with Minister Konda Surekha’s daughter Konda Sushmita making allegations against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and challenging his stand on the Parkal Assembly constituency.

The dispute has given the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) an opportunity to target the Chief Minister, with the party alleging that the developments point to serious cracks within the ruling Congress.

The move reportedly angered the Konda camp, which has been projecting Sushmita as a prospective Congress candidate from Parkal. Sushmita subsequently said she was prepared to contest from the constituency even as an independent candidate if required. She also questioned the decision to project a candidate for the next election well in advance.

Sushmita has also raised questions over the representation of Backward Classes in the Congress and alleged that BC leaders were being sidelined. She has made several other allegations against the Chief Minister and members of his political camp. The allegations have not been independently established.

Congress Issues Notice To Konda Surekha

Amid the escalating dispute, Congress MP and TPCC Disciplinary Committee Chairman Mallu Ravi has issued a notice to Konda Surekha over her daughter’s remarks against Revanth Reddy and Parkal MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy.

Surekha has been asked to submit her explanation within three days regarding the remarks made by Sushmita during Surekha’s birthday celebrations in Warangal district.

The disciplinary notice has added to the political significance of the dispute, with the immediate trigger being the disagreement over the Parkal candidature but the episode also reviving earlier differences between the Konda family and the Chief Minister.

BRS Takes Aim At Revanth Reddy

The BRS has seized on the controversy to attack the Telangana government.

BRS spokesperson Krishank alleged that the episode exposed “cracks" within the Congress government and party in Telangana. He also levelled corruption allegations against Revanth Reddy and his family and demanded answers from Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.

Another BRS spokesperson, Putta Vishnuvardhan Reddy, said Revanth Reddy should resign over the allegations emerging from within his own party.

“Over the past two and a half years, we’ve been hearing a slew of serious corruption scandals and allegations being levelled by none other than Congress’ own camp," he said.

Reddy also alleged that Sushmita had threatened to expose alleged corruption involving the Chief Minister and his brothers. He questioned how long Revanth Reddy would continue to describe such allegations as a “political conspiracy" and urged the Congress high command to intervene.

The corruption allegations made by the BRS and Sushmita have not been independently established.

Earlier Controversy

Earlier in October 2025, Sushmita had accused Revanth Reddy and other senior Congress leaders of targeting her family.

That controversy followed a police visit to Konda Surekha’s Jubilee Hills residence in connection with her former Officer on Special Duty, N Sumanth. Sumanth had been removed from his position amid allegations of corruption and extortion.

Sushmita had then alleged that the action against Sumanth was part of a conspiracy against her family and named Revanth Reddy, his then adviser Vem Narender Reddy and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. She had also accused sections of the Congress leadership of targeting BC leaders. Those allegations too were not independently established.

The October dispute also involved allegations concerning works for the Medaram Jathara. Sushmita had alleged interference in the tender process involving works worth around Rs 71 crore. These claims were made amid the political dispute and were not established as wrongdoing.
