Harley-Davidson X350 T Spied Undisguised With Downsized Engine

The X350 T is expected to share the platform, chassis, cycle parts and styling with the Harley-Davidson X440 T. However, it will get a smaller 349cc engine to benefit from the lower GST rates. It is important to note that the India-spec X350 T is different from the China-spec X350. The latter uses a Benelli-sourced parallel-twin engine, whereas the X350 T is expected to use a downsized version of the single-cylinder engine from the X440 T.While the X440 T uses a 440cc, single-cylinder motor, the Harley-Davidson X350 T is expected to be powered by a 349cc motor. A quick back-of-the-envelope calculation suggests the downsized 349cc motor could produce approximately 21-22bhp and 30-32Nm of peak torque. Compared to the X440 T, the X350 T could feel less punchy at lower engine speeds, with a relatively milder torque delivery in the low-end and mid-range.

- Likely to be powered by a downsized 349cc version of the 440cc motor

- Will benefit from the lower 18 per cent GST rates

- Could be showcased at EICMA 2026

The Harley-Davidson X350 T has been spied undisguised at a dealership, hinting at its impending launch. The X350 T is expected to share the platform, chassis, cycle parts and styling with the Harley-Davidson X440 T. However, it will get a smaller 349cc engine to benefit from the lower GST rates.

It is important to note that the India-spec X350 T is different from the China-spec X350. The latter uses a Benelli-sourced parallel-twin engine, whereas the X350 T is expected to use a downsized version of the single-cylinder engine from the X440 T.

While the X440 T uses a 440cc, single-cylinder motor, the Harley-Davidson X350 T is expected to be powered by a 349cc motor. This will allow Harley-Davidson to position it in the sub-350cc category, which attracts 18 per cent GST compared to the 40 per cent applicable on the X 440T.

Similar to what Bajaj, Triumph and KTM have done with their respective 400cc engine platforms, we expect Harley-Davidson to follow a similar route by reducing the stroke length while retaining the bore. This approach will help reduce the engine capacity without significantly altering the engine architecture.

A quick back-of-the-envelope calculation suggests the downsized 349cc motor could produce approximately 21-22bhp and 30-32Nm of peak torque. These are expected figures, and the final output will only be known once Harley-Davidson officially unveils the motorcycle. That said, the engine is likely to continue to be paired with a six-speed gearbox.

This downsizing exercise is likely to have some effect on the engine's character. Compared to the X440 T, the X350 T could feel less punchy at lower engine speeds, with a relatively milder torque delivery in the low-end and mid-range. However, a shorter stroke could also make the engine slightly more free-revving, although it may not deliver the same effortless acceleration and strong mid-range punch as the X440 T.

Apart from the downsized engine, the X350 T is expected to retain the same underpinnings as the Harley-Davidson X440 T. So, the chassis, suspension setup, braking hardware, and other cycle parts will remain unchanged. The motorcycle also shares the same overall styling as its larger sibling.

Harley-Davidson is likely to showcase the X350 T at the 2026 trade show in Milan, Italy. The India launch is expected to follow the international showcase.
